The FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 invites applications from talented individuals across eligible nations to pursue a Master of Science degree in Hungary. This prestigious program, organized by the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in collaboration with the Hungarian Government, provides full scholarships for international students passionate about agricultural sciences.
Available Degree Programs
For the academic year 2025–26, the following English-taught Master’s courses are offered:
- Master in Aquaculture
Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő. - Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering
University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, Debrecen.
FAO 2025 Scholarship Benefits
The program provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Full tuition and application fees for the study period, along with basic books and study materials.
- Dormitory accommodation at the host universities.
- Monthly subsistence allowance to cover living expenses.
- Health insurance throughout the scholarship duration.
Note: The scholarship only covers individual student costs. Family members are not included in the program.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship and residency in one of the eligible countries.
- Outstanding academic records.
- Proficiency in English for courses taught in English.
- Demonstrated motivation for pursuing the selected program.
- Good health status.
- Preference will be given to candidates under 30 years of age.
Eligible Countries
Applicants from over 40 countries, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Ethiopia, Jordan, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Vietnam, are eligible to apply. Selection Process
The selection will proceed in two phases:
- Phase 1: Pre-screening by FAO and application submission to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. Only complete applications will be processed.
- Phase 2: Universities will conduct further selection, which may include written or oral English tests. Final admissions decisions rest solely with the participating universities.
