The Chinese Government Scholarship—Independent Enrollment Program at Shanghai University offers the following benefits:

  • Full Tuition Fee Waiver: All tuition costs are covered.
  • Accommodation Fees: Free on-campus housing or an off-campus accommodation subsidy for Master’s students is around 700 yuan/month, and for doctoral students its 1,000 yuan/month.
  • Living Expenses: Master’s students: 3,000 yuan/month, and doctoral students: 3,500 yuan/month
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance: Full medical coverage for the duration of the program.

Eligibility Criteria Requirements

To be eligible for the Shanghai University scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
  • Meet educational qualifications:
    • Master’s degree applicants: Must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
    • Doctoral degree applicants: Must hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for the Shanghai University Category A Scholarship:

  1. Step 1: Log in to www.campuschina.org, select Type B, and enter the Shanghai University institution agency number code (10280) to complete the application.
  2. Step 2: Log in to Shanghai University’s online application system at https://apply.shu.edu.cn/application/scholarships, complete the academic program application, obtain a pre-admission notice.
  3. Step 3: Shanghai University Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate submitted materials and finalize scholarship candidates.
  4. Step 4: The list of candidates will be announced online in late June 2025.
  5. Step 5: The final list will be submitted to the China Scholarship Council for approval.
  6. Step 6: Successful candidates must prepay tuition fees to receive the official admission letter.
