What is the SEAI Energise Fellowship?

Hosted in collaboration with Ireland’s top 3rd level educational institutions, this fellowship programme is designed to:

  • Build national capacity in clean energy research and policy.
  • Accelerate the clean energy transition through cutting-edge, policy-relevant research.
  • Empower researchers to step into leadership roles across academia, government, and industry.
  • Offer a bridge for academics transitioning into public or private sector energy roles.

Fellowship Categories

Whether you prefer the freedom of academic inquiry or the excitement of working at the heart of policy, there’s a track for you:

1# Academic Fellowships

Open to early-stage postdoctoral researchers with bold, bottom-up research ideas aligned with SEAI’s mission. Fellows will be based at a recognized Irish higher education institution.

2# SEAI-Based Fellowships

Get hands-on experience working directly within the SEAI headquarters in Dublin. Supported by a 3rd level institution, you’ll delve into five hot-topic areas, including:

  1. Innovation-to-impact frameworks for clean energy.
  2. Measuring equity in energy programme benefits and costs.
  3. Evaluating programme outcomes with mixed methods.
  4. Behavioral science to transform energy behaviors.
  5. Protecting vulnerable households from fossil fuel price shocks using new technologies.

Application Timeline

The SEAI Energise Fellowship Programme 2025 application timeline begins with the call opening on March 18, 2025, closely followed by the launch of the PEP Application Portal sometime in March. Prospective applicants should note the crucial webinar scheduled for April 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM (IST), which offers a valuable opportunity for insights and Q&A.

The final deadline for application submissions is set for 12:00 Noon (IST) on May 14, 2025. Following the deadline, the evaluation process will proceed in three stages: eligibility checks in May 2025, technical evaluation in June 2025, and interviews in June/July 2025.

Finally, the fellowship award announcements are anticipated in August 2025.
