The University of Reading, recently crowned The Times and The Sunday Times Sustainable University of the Year 2025, is launching one of the UK’s largest ever sustainability-focused undergraduate scholarship programs — the Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarship.
This exciting new initiative will empower 300 high-achieving students in 2025, from both the UK and abroad, to become the sustainability trailblazers of tomorrow.
Programs Offered
The Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarship is available to eligible students enrolling in any undergraduate program at the University of Reading in the 2025/26 academic year. Students from all disciplines are welcome — sustainability leadership isn’t limited to one subject!
Scholarship Benefits
Selected students will receive:
- £6,000 per year, for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study — intended to support maintenance and living costs.
- Access to a dynamic leadership programme focused on sustainability, climate, and environmental change.
- Participation in cross-disciplinary activities, knowledge-building sessions, and action-based sustainability projects.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarship at the University of Reading, applicants must be either UK or international fee-paying students holding an offer to begin an undergraduate program at the university in the 2025/26 academic year. Academic excellence is key—students are expected to achieve AAA or higher in their A levels (or equivalent qualifications), though those eligible for a contextualised offer may qualify with AAB. In addition, applicants must complete the scholarship application process, which is by invitation only.
There’s great news for those applying after results day: if you secure a place through Clearing and meet the academic criteria, you’ll also be invited to apply for the scholarship. Likewise, if you’re an existing offer holder who exceeds your predicted grades or if your predicted grades weren’t originally submitted, the University will reach out to you with an opportunity to apply—provided you meet the eligibility requirements.
