Marŝarto Awards 2024 for Artist, Historian, Journalist or Creators – Submit Your Entry

Attention all creators, walkers, and dreamers! Are you ready to transform your everyday strolls into a canvas of creativity? The Marŝarto Awards are here to challenge your perceptions of walking as not just a physical activity but a profound artistic experience. This unique competition, culminating each October to align with the festive spirit of Walktober, is designed to celebrate and recognize the most exceptional walking art from across the globe.

What’s Up for Grabs?

This isn’t just another art contest; it’s a platform that brings your walking adventures to life! Winners of the Marŝarto Awards can strut away with a grand cash prize of up to €1000. Whether you’re an artist, historian, journalist, or simply someone who loves exploring on foot, your creative walking piece could earn you not only significant monetary rewards but also immense recognition.

Prizes and Perks

Shortlisted entries gain bragging rights and exposure, while winners and honorable mentions receive a tangible award and cash prizes of 500 and 200 euros respectively. However, through our membership program—akin to a crowdfunding campaign—the prize pot can increase significantly. As support thresholds are met, the cash prize for winners could surge to 1000 euros, with honorable mentions potentially receiving up to 400 euros.

Eligibility and Submission

If you’ve created any walking-related art in 2024, you’re eligible to enter. It’s important to note that sound walks have their own special place under the Sound Walk September Awards, so keep this in mind when you submit to the Marŝarto Awards.

Your work can span various formats and disciplines—be it arts, heritage, health, social practices, or even ecology. The key is to submit your work through the walk · listen · create website. Dive into our archives, find the ‘Submit’ button, or simply navigate directly to the submission form to get started.

How to Apply and The Selection Process?

You can submit your entry as per this official notice (https://walklistencreate.org/awards/marsarto-awards/) here at https://walklistencreate.org/tell-us-about-your-walking-piece/ before September 30, 2024.

What makes the Marŝarto Awards even more exciting is the involvement of both a professional Online Jury and the general public. After a shortlist is crafted by the Online Jury, the Grand Jury takes over to pick the winners based on collaboratively defined criteria. Starting in 2024, public engagement will also play a crucial role. The submission garnering the most likes, which hasn’t been shortlisted by the Online Jury, will also make it to the final list. So, don’t forget to vote for your favorites!
