Forrest Scholars are distinguished by their ability to challenge norms, push boundaries, and undertake research with the potential to make a global impact. They will be part of a vibrant academic community at Forrest Hall, an inspiring environment designed to foster collaboration and innovation across multiple disciplines.
Benefits of the Forrest PhD Scholarship
Each Forrest Scholar receives a generous scholarship package valued at over AU$270,000 over a four-year period. The package includes:
- Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend: An annual stipend of between AU$29,863 and AU$35,000, indexed annually, provided by the enrolling university.
- Accommodation Allowance: An accommodation allowance of AU$24,128 per year (indexed annually) to cover the cost of living in a luxury studio apartment at Forrest Hall. Scholars with dependent children may be eligible for a two-bedroom apartment, subject to availability.
- Relocation and Research Travel Allowance: Up to AU$12,000 for research-related expenses and travel, plus a relocation allowance for an economy airfare to Perth for the scholar and their immediate family.
- Fee Scholarships: Full coverage of tuition fees through the Research Training Program Fees Offset Scholarship for both domestic and international students, including Overseas Student Health Cover for international applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Forrest PhD Scholarship, candidates must demonstrate:
- Outstanding academic performance and achievements.
- Exceptional resourcefulness, resilience, and originality in their research proposals.
- A strong desire to engage with their academic community and use their research to positively impact Western Australia and the world.
- Research must be conducted at one of the following universities: Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, The University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle Campus), or The University of Western Australia.
