What is the Youth Transition Support (YTS) Program?

YTS is a government-backed initiative tailored to support young people aged 15 to 25 who have arrived in Australia on humanitarian or select migrant visas. Funded until 30 June 2026, this program helps youth build skills, boost confidence, and connect socially while settling into their new Australian lives.

Who is Eligible?

YTS services are available for permanent residents aged 15 to 25 who are on eligible Australian visas. You may qualify if you are:

  • A humanitarian entrant, including those fleeing conflict or persecution.
  • A Family stream migrant with low English proficiency.
  • A dependent of a skilled migrant living in a rural or regional area, also with low English proficiency.
  • A Temporary Humanitarian Stay (Subclass 449) visa holder (granted after 19 August 2021 due to the Afghan crisis).

Eligible Visa Subclasses

Here’s a quick overview of the main visa categories accepted for YTS:

Humanitarian and Protection Visas:

    • Subclass 200 to 204 (including Refugee, Woman at Risk, and Special Humanitarian)
    • Subclass 449 (Afghanistan-specific)
    • Subclass 800 and 866 (Protection and Territorial Asylum).

Family Stream Visas (Low English):

    • Subclasses 100, 101, 102, 103, 114, 115, 116, 117
    • Subclasses 143, 801, 802, 804, 835, 836, 837, 838, 864.

Skilled Visas (Dependants with Low English):

    • Subclasses 888 to 893 (Business and Investor pathways).
