About the Programme

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Visiting Fellowships:

  • Applicants must be at postdoctoral level or have equivalent research experience.
  • Candidates should be based outside of the UK at the time of application.
  • Applicants can be on permanent or fixed-term contracts (fixed-term contracts must not end before the fellowship end date).
  • Independent scholars are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants must have been in contact with their UK host institution prior to applying.
  • The British Academy encourages applications from diverse UK host institutions, historically or structurally disadvantaged groups, low-income countries, and female researchers.

Value and Duration

  • Fellowships last between three to six months.
  • The maximum funding available is £40,000.
  • Applicants can choose their preferred start date within the period from March to August 2025.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted online using the British Academy’s Grant Management System, Flexi-Grant®. The deadline for applications is 17:00 (GMT) on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024.
