Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Deakin Sanctuary Scholarship, applicants must be international students holding specific visas, including the Temporary Protection visa (Subclass 785), Safe Haven Enterprise visa (Subclass 790), Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449), Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786), Bridging visa A (Subclass 010), or Bridging visa E (Subclass 050 or 051).

Additionally, applicants must meet the entry requirements for an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at Deakin University at the time of application. They must commence full-time studies in Trimester/Semester 1 of 2025 and should not have previously received a Deakin Sanctuary Scholarship. Preference will be given to students who opt for on-campus study.

    • Statement of recommendation from a school/community leader (not a family member).
    • Additional referee statements (if available).

    • Select ‘Deakin Sanctuary Scholarship (Asylum Seekers and Refugees)’ during application.
