Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Excelsior Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of New York State.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

  • File a FAFSA and a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
  • Complete at least 12 credits per term and a total of 30 credits annually, applicable toward their degree program.
