What’s Being Offered?

  • 100 Fully Funded Undergraduate Scholarships: For international Tibetan students enrolled in or applying to a minimum 3-year Undergraduate or Diploma program
  • 5 Fully Funded Postgraduate Scholarships: Only available to previous undergraduate scholarship awardees
  • Scholarship Funds: Deposited directly into the student’s personal bank account (preferably in State Bank of India – SBI)
  • Program Type: Degree programs only (Vocational and certificate programs are not eligible).

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

For Undergraduate Scholarships: You must meet any one of the following conditions:

  1. Academic Consistency: You consistently performed well in school but couldn’t score high marks in your Class XII board exams. (Requires a school recommendation using Form B)
  2. Strong Moral Character: You are known to be honest, responsible, and well-mannered. (Requires a school recommendation using Form B)
  3. Family Hardship: You are orphaned, semi-orphaned, or come from a financially struggling background. (Requires verification via Tibetan Settlement Officer and Form A).

Additional criteria:

  • You and your parents must have a valid Green Book (GB) with contributions made until March 31, 2024
  • You must hold a valid Registration Certificate (RC)
  • If you live in Nepal, Bhutan, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, or Gangtok, you must submit a recommendation from the Tibetan Settlement Officer confirming your refugee status
  • You must not already be receiving another scholarship
  • If you have taken a gap year, explain the reason clearly in your application.

For Postgraduate Scholarships

  • Open only to students who were awarded the Dalai Lama Trust Undergraduate Scholarship in the past
  • Must provide complete undergraduate academic records and certificates
  • Must still meet all core documentation requirements (GB, RC, etc.)

The last date to apply for the Undergraduate Scholarship offered by the Dalai Lama Trust is June 15, 2025, while the deadline to apply for the Postgraduate Scholarship is August 31, 2025.
