Global Korea (GKS-U) Scholarship 2026 Announced for International Students
Have you ever imagined walking across the campus of Seoul National University, Yonsei, POSTECH, or Ewha Womans University? Or spending your evenings exploring Korea’s futuristic cities, vibrant culture, and world-famous K-drama lifestyle — all while studying for free?
Here’s the news you’ve been waiting for:
The 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U) is officially open, and this could be your chance to transform that dream into reality.
Why Should You Consider the GKS-U 2026-2027?
This isn’t just any scholarship — it is a fully funded program supported by the Korean government, designed to welcome outstanding students from across the globe. The mission is to bring together bright young minds, fuel academic excellence, and build lifelong international friendships.
Here’s what makes this program stand out:
- Full tuition fees are covered (up to KRW 5 million per year, with any excess covered by universities).
- A generous monthly allowance for living expenses, health insurance, and additional grants for high Korean proficiency.
- Free round-trip airfare.
- A one-year intensive Korean language training program (unless you already hold TOPIK level 5 or 6).
- Settlement and completion grants, plus academic incentives along the way.
This isn’t just a scholarship. It is a launchpad for your future.
What Can You Study Under GKS-U 2026 Program?
Almost every academic field is available. From engineering and natural sciences to arts, humanities, and social sciences, GKS-U covers programs at many of Korea’s top universities.
The only limitation is that online, short-term, and evening programs are not included. Applicants can only choose from universities and departments listed in the official GKS notice available at the end of this article.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility for the new batch of GKS-U 2026-2027 scholarship is described below in 4 simple steps:

If you meet these conditions, you are eligible to apply for 2026 GKS Scholarship.
Two Ways to Apply for GKS 2026 Scholarship
There are two (02) different application tracks to submit your application for the consideration of GKS-U 2026 program:
- Embassy Track – Apply through your local Korean Embassy, selecting up to three universities (at least one must be from the Type B category).
- University Track – Apply directly to one university of your choice.
Both tracks are competitive, but they offer different advantages. Embassy Track allows multiple university choices, while University Track may be less competitive but restricts applicants to a single university.
