Indigenous PhD Scholarship 2025 at La Trobe University

Scholarship Benefits

This scholarship offers an extensive package to support your studies and research:

  1. Stipend and Top-Up: Base stipend: $34,000 per annum (2024 rate) for up to 3.5 years (doctoral) or 22 months (Master’s). And an additional top-up stipend: $10,000 per annum for the duration of the program.
  2. Research Support: Research allowance: $3,000 per annum to cover expenses such as fieldwork, laboratory consumables, and conference attendance.
  3. Fee Offset: Full tuition fee relief for up to four years (doctoral) or two years (Master’s).
  4. Relocation and Thesis Support: A Research Training Program (RTP) allowance to assist with relocation and thesis production costs.
  5. Fortnightly Payments: The stipend is paid fortnightly for ease of financial planning.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet the entrance requirements for the proposed course.
  • Not be receiving another scholarship exceeding 75% of the stipend rate for the same purpose.

Priority is given to candidates who:

  • Conduct research at a La Trobe University campus.
  • Have prior research experience (e.g., Master’s by Research or first-class Honours degree).
