A promising academic window is set to open in June 2025 for ambitious students from developing countries as Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reintroduces the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. This government-sponsored opportunity is designed to empower future leaders from MTCP recipient nations by supporting their pursuit of Master’s degrees in Malaysia, equipping them with valuable skills and knowledge that can drive progress back home.

About the MTCP Scholarship

Established to foster South-South cooperation, the MTCP Scholarship reflects Malaysia’s commitment to international development. The program not only provides advanced academic training at Malaysian public universities but also promotes long-term diplomatic and professional relationships with participating countries.

The scholarship covers a full-time Master’s degree and supports recipients for 24 to 36 months, depending on the duration of their chosen program.


Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the MTCP Scholarship 2025, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of MTCP recipient countries (typically countries listed as developing nations under Malaysia’s foreign aid framework).
  • Be under 45 years of age at the time of application.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Upper (Honours) or a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
  • Fulfill English language requirements through one of the following:
    • IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or
    • TOEFL iBT score of 60 or above, or
    • Proof that their previous academic degree was conducted entirely in English.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

Successful candidates will receive a generous monthly stipend of RM3,500 to cover living costs, along with tuition fee waivers at participating Malaysian public universities. This package ensures scholars can focus entirely on their studies without the burden of financial stress.
