Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Course Offer: Applicants must have been offered a place in an ECU Higher Degree by PhD, Integrated PhD research course, or Master by Research*. Those who have submitted course admission applications prior to the scholarship closing date but have not yet been assessed or approved will still be considered. However, they will receive only a conditional scholarship offer if successful.
- Research Commencement:
- For PhD candidates: Commencement must be by 9th May 2025.
- For Master by Research candidates: Commencement must be by Semester 1, 2025.
- Supervisor Endorsement: Applicants must have the endorsement of a principal supervisor for their proposed research project.
Applicants are not eligible if any of the following conditions apply:
- Previous Scholarships: Receipt of an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) or an Australia Award scholarship within the last two years.
- Supervisor Endorsement: Lack of principal supervisor endorsement for the proposed research project.
- Commencement Dates: PhD candidates commencing after 9th May 2025 or Master by Research candidates commencing after Semester 1, 2025.
- Income Limits: Receipt of an income that exceeds 75% of the 2025 ECU RTP base stipend rate ($35,000) for purposes other than supporting general living costs related to the research project or HDR course.
