SIR 2025 Medical Student Scholarship Program
The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has announced the SIR 2025 Medical Student Scholar Program, an exceptional opportunity for medical students across the United States and Canada to explore the field of interventional radiology (IR) at an early stage in their medical careers. This program provides a fully immersive experience during the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting and offers numerous benefits to recipients.
Funding Benefits
Selected scholars will receive:
- Free registration to attend the SIR 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting.
- A $1,000 scholarship to cover travel expenses to the event.
- Special recognition during the meeting.
- Exclusive invitations to networking events, including:
- Dedicated Scholars Reception on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
- Medical Student Programming tailored specifically for participants on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
This program not only supports travel but also provides unique networking opportunities to connect with renowned interventional radiologists and peers.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the SIR 2025 Medical Student Scholar Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a medical student in the U.S. or Canada.
- Be an SIR Medical Student Member (membership is required but can be obtained during the application process).
- Medical students completing a research year (but not yet graduated) are eligible.
- Applicants must not:
- Be prior recipients of the SIR Medical Student Travel Scholarship.
- Serve or have served as members of the Medical Student General Council.
- Be accepted to speak at general or medical student sessions at SIR 2025.
Application Process
To apply, candidates must submit their application by the deadline: Monday, October 7, 2024, at midnight PT. The following materials are required for the application:
- Updated CV.
- Short Essay Responses (250 words or less each) addressing:

- How IR can help underserved communities.
- Understanding of interventional radiology.
- Expectations and goals for attending the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting.
- Challenges facing IR in the next 10 years and possible solutions.
3. Optional Letter of Recommendation from an attending physician (not necessarily an interventional radiologist).

- A link will be provided after submitting the application to allow the attending physician to upload the recommendation letter.
- Recommendation letters must also be submitted by the deadline: Monday, October 7, 2024, midnight PT.
