UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarships 2024 (Dublin)
The UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars program offers an exceptional opportunity for student-athletes to balance their academic and athletic pursuits. With 60 scholars currently engaged in various sports including Athletics, Badminton, Camogie, Cycling, Football, GAA, Hockey, Hurley, Karate, Modern Pentathlon, Rugby, Soccer, Sailing, Swimming, and Table Tennis, the program is designed to foster excellence in both domains.
UCD Sports Scholarship Benefits
Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars receive a comprehensive support package valued at €3,000, which can be used towards fees, accommodation, or as a bursary. Key benefits include:

The scholarship typically covers the first four years of study, subject to annual renewal based on performance criteria.
Eligibility
Prospective students and current UCD students can apply for the Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarship. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
For Prospective Students
- Must be school leavers entering UCD in September 2024.
- Should have a record of exceptional achievements in their respective sports.
- Must meet the academic requirements: 6 x H1s in the Leaving Certificate, four Grade A* at A-level, or equivalent for International Baccalaureate (contact UCD Admissions for equivalency).
For Current Students
- A minimum GPA of 3.68.
- Completion of 60 graded ECTS and progression requirements.
- Nominations by their respective UCD program areas based on academic performance.
Application Process UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars program
The application process consists of three stages:
Stage 1: Application
- Complete an online application form https://www.ucd.ie/adastraacademy/academic/applications/
- Submit a personal statement, a statement of achievements, and supporting documentation.
- Upload a photograph of your Leaving Certificate results or equivalent exams.
Stage 2: Shortlisting
- Applications are reviewed based on academic criteria and submitted forms.
- Weighting: 60% statement of achievement and 40% personal statement.
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified via UCD Connect email and invited for an interview.
Stage 3: Offers
- Up to sixteen successful applicants will receive scholarship offers.
- Offers are subject to acceptance of a UCD course and adherence to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.
