100 PhD Scholarships Available at Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales in 2025

The Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), France’s premier space agency, is inviting applications for its prestigious CNES Ph.D. Grants 2025. With approximately 100 funded Ph.D. positions available, this program offers outstanding research opportunities in a variety of disciplines, including formal sciences, humanities, natural sciences, applied sciences, and social sciences.

About the CNES Ph.D. Grants

Each year, CNES funds Ph.D. students to work on preselected research projects in collaboration with leading universities and research institutions. These projects are co-funded by CNES and either a public or private partner, providing a robust financial and research backing to scholars. Applicants must choose from the list of available Ph.D. projects and apply exclusively through the CNES. Spontaneous applications or submissions for non-listed projects will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CNES Ph.D. Grants, applicants must:

  • Hold a Master 2 degree or an equivalent diploma before starting their Ph.D. contract (expected around October 1, 2025).
  • Apply only for listed projects on the CNES recruitment portal.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence as part of the selection process.
  • Have French language proficiency if applying for projects listed in French. For English-listed projects, knowledge of French is encouraged but not mandatory.
  • Be of any nationality, as CNES promotes equal opportunity in research and academia.
