What Does the RISE Internship Offer?

Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive scholarship that includes:

  • A monthly stipend of 992 Euros for a full month (calculated on a daily basis for shorter stays).
  • Health insurance, accident insurance, and personal liability insurance.
  • A travel allowance of 160 Euros to attend the three-day RISE Germany meeting in Heidelberg in early July.
  • Coverage of international travel costs through an international travel subsidy.

For Canadian applicants, the program collaborates with Mitacs and their Globalink Research Internship program. This partnership offers up to 100 positions in the RISE Germany program, with combined scholarships from Mitacs and DAAD.

Who Can Apply for RISE 2025?

To be eligible for the RISE DAAD Internships 2025, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university in the United States, Canada, the UK, or Ireland.
  • Major in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences, or engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Have completed at least two years of your degree program by the time the internship begins.
  • Maintain undergraduate status after the internship concludes.

Note: If you hold German citizenship, you are eligible to apply only if you can prove that you have lived outside of Germany for six years or more.

Internship Duration and Flexibility

The RISE internships can begin anytime between May 15 and July 15, 2025, and can last between 10 weeks and 90 days. While the start dates provided are a guideline, there is flexibility based on discussions with your internship provider.

How to Apply for RISE 2025 Internship?

Interested students must submit their applications online through the RISE database https://www.daad.de/rise/en/rise-germany/find-an-internship/application-portal/. The first step is to register and log in to access the internship database. After that, you’ll need to fill out the online application form and upload all required documents.

Important Deadlines

  • Internship Database Open: October 15 to November 30, 2024.
  • Application Submission Deadline: November 30, 2024, by 11:59 pm CET (Central European Time).
  • Letters of Recommendation Submission Deadline: December 15, 2024, by 11:59 pm CET.
  • Announcement of RISE Internship Positions: February/March 2025.
