30 Undergrad Scholarships 2026 Sponsored by James McCune Smith

The University of Glasgow has announced an exciting opportunity for students of African and African-Caribbean heritage through the James McCune Smith Undergraduate Scholarships 2026. With up to 30 awards available, this scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers for talented students entering undergraduate programs at one of the UK’s top universities.

Overview of the Scholarship

The James McCune Smith Undergraduate Scholarship offers £4,000 to each selected student, distributed in instalments throughout the first year of study. It supports individuals who may face financial or social challenges in accessing higher education, allowing them to focus on academic success and community contribution.

This initiative continues the University’s commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, honoring the legacy of Dr. James McCune Smith, the first African American to earn a medical degree (awarded by the University of Glasgow in 1837).
