What is the Chevening Gurukul Fellowship?
The Chevening Gurukul Fellowship is the UK government’s flagship fellowship program exclusively for Indian professionals. It is tailored for young high-achievers and mid-career professionals who demonstrate significant leadership potential. The fellowship explores the evolving concepts and practices of leadership in a global context, particularly focusing on the unique challenges faced by Indian leaders due to globalization.
Programme Highlights
The 12-week intensive residential course runs from mid-September to November each year and includes:
- Academic training: Insights into global integration, its economic impacts, and leadership theories.
- Policy relevance: Practical knowledge to tackle real-world issues in leadership roles.
- Personal development: Activities to build leadership and networking skills.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Chevening Gurukul Fellowship, candidates must:
- Be citizens of India and currently reside in the country.
- Have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Have at least 10 years of work experience.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential in fields such as government, private sector, media, or civil society.
- Possess a good working knowledge of English.
- Commit to returning to India after the fellowship period.
- Not hold British or dual-British citizenship.
- Not be employed or have close relatives employed by relevant UK government bodies or related institutions within the last two years.
