Benefits of this IOM Internship

  • Monthly Subsistence Allowance (MSA): Most interns receive a stipend to partially cover living expenses. Exceptions may apply if the internship is part of a university coursework requirement or if funding is provided by an external institution.
  • Visa and Travel: Interns or their sponsoring institutions are responsible for arranging and covering travel and visa costs. IOM can provide a visa support letter to facilitate the process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for an IOM internship, you must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Be enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master’s level or higher).
  • Have graduated with a university or graduate degree within the past year.
  • Be sponsored by a governmental, non-governmental, or academic institution for work relevant to IOM and the sponsor.

  • Age: Applicants must be between 19 and 36 years old (average age is 26).
  • Language Skills: A working knowledge (oral and written) of at least one of IOM’s official languages—English, French, or Spanish—is mandatory.
