Chang Gung University (CGU) in Taiwan is now accepting applications for its prestigious scholarship program for international doctoral students enrolling in September 2025. Designed to attract talented scholars from around the world, this scholarship offers comprehensive financial support, professional growth opportunities, and access to world-class academic resources.

CGU Sponsorship Package (Grant)

The CGU Scholarship is a holistic program tailored to meet the academic and financial needs of doctoral students. Successful candidates receive a generous monthly stipend of NTD 30,000, funded jointly by the university and academic advisors. For exceptional students, there are additional funding opportunities of up to NTD 12,000 per month, making this scholarship one of the most competitive in the region.

Moreover, starting from the third academic year, the tuition fee is waived for Ph.D. students. Only a minimal credit fee of NTD 3,813 per semester is required. This initiative underscores CGU’s commitment to empowering international scholars to focus on their research without financial burdens.

Eligibility and Criteria

CGU emphasizes academic excellence and English proficiency as prerequisites for this scholarship. Candidates must meet at least one of the following English language requirements:

  • TOEFL ITP: 523+
  • TOEFL iBT: 69+
  • IELTS: 5.5+
  • TOEIC: 700+
  • Linguaskill Business: 160+

For outstanding students, there are additional rewards:

  • Those with a GRE Quantitative Reasoning score between 160 and 170 can earn an extra NTD 2,000 to NTD 12,000 monthly, depending on the score.
  • Graduates from QS Top 500 universities (within the past three years) are eligible for an additional NTD 7,000 monthly.

Beyond pre-admission requirements, recipients must:

  • Pass evaluations by their academic advisor.
  • Complete a basic Chinese course in the first year.
  • Pass the qualifying exam for doctoral candidacy before the third year.

1# First Round:

    • Application Period: December 16, 2024 – February 7, 2025
    • Results Announcement: April 3, 2025
    • Reply Deadline: April 14, 2025.

2# Second Round:

    • Application Period: February 24, 2025 – April 18, 2025
    • Results Announcement: June 9, 2025
    • Reply Deadline: June 20, 2025.
