Sweden Collegium General Fellowship 2025 Open

The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) has announced the General Fellowship Programme for the academic year 2026-2027. This prestigious residential fellowship is open to scholars in the humanities and social sciences, offering them the opportunity to conduct independent research in an intellectually stimulating environment.

Programme Overview and Eligibility Criteria

The General Fellowship Programme is a key initiative at SCAS, aimed at fostering interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The Collegium welcomes scholars from diverse backgrounds, institutions, and nationalities to apply.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) for at least three years by the time of application.
  • Early career scholars must demonstrate independent achievements beyond the postdoctoral level, including significant publications and active participation in international research networks.
  • Senior scholars (with a PhD for at least ten years) must have a strong track record of significant and original research contributions over the years and remain actively engaged in their respective fields internationally.
  • Applicants do not need to hold a university position at the time of application.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Fellows typically receive a monthly salary; however, SCAS does not match home institution salaries and encourages fellows to seek additional funding such as sabbatical salaries or grants.
  • Accommodation is provided and covered by SCAS for fellows residing outside the Stockholm–Uppsala region. When feasible, housing may also be arranged for Stockholm-based fellows who cannot commute.
