Scholarship Overview
JEFNE awards scholarships annually to up to 10 students who demonstrate strong journalistic skills and a commitment to the field. These scholarships, presented by the New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA), aim to support the next generation of reporters, editors, and media professionals.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the JEFNE scholarships, applicants must:
- Be a resident of one of the six New England states: Connecticut (CT), Maine (ME), Massachusetts (MA), New Hampshire (NH), Rhode Island (RI), or Vermont (VT).
- Be a high school senior or an undergraduate student planning to attend college in Fall 2025.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in journalism by submitting:
- A cover letter outlining career goals.
- An academic transcript.
- A resume or biography.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, editor, or mentor.
- A portfolio of at least three published works from a school newspaper, professional publication, or journalism class project.
