The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA) has officially opened the call for Industrial PhD Scholarships 2025, inviting ambitious candidates from around the world to apply for one of up to three prestigious 2/3-financed scholarships, each valued at 1,100,000 DKK.
These scholarships aim to support high-impact research in diabetes, metabolism, or endocrinology, offering a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge academic work while collaborating with life-science industry partners in Denmark.
DDEA Scholarship Benefits
Each awarded candidate will receive a scholarship that covers:
- DKK 1,100,000 (approx. €147,000 / $159,000) in funding
- Two (2) years of salary and tuition coverage during the three-year PhD period
- The remaining funding (1/3) to be provided by the collaborating life-science industry partner
This collaborative structure ensures that each project bridges academic excellence and real-world industry innovation.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Hold a Master’s degree from a Danish university or an equivalent recognized foreign degree by the time of application.
- Must not be enrolled in a PhD program by the notification date of 26 November 2025.
- Must submit a detailed research project in diabetes, metabolism, or endocrinology that highlights collaboration between academia and industry.
- The principal supervisor must be a professor or associate professor at a Danish university.
- A co-supervisor from the life-science industry is encouraged.
Important Note: Applicants may only apply to one DDEA PhD scholarship call per round.
Four (4) Focus Areas for Selection Weight
Reviewers will prioritize applications that successfully address:
- International collaboration
- Interdisciplinary integration
- Cross-sector collaboration (academic & industry)
- Patient and/or public involvement (PPI)
Each application must reflect on how these areas will create synergy and societal impact through the proposed research.
