TWAS-CAS Grants 2025 for Global Sustainability Science Collaboration

Calling all international scientists, researchers, and young affiliates passionate about solving global sustainability challenges! A new opportunity is here to power your work and deepen international scientific collaboration – and it’s fully funded.

What’s the Opportunity?

The Grants for Cooperation on Sustainability Science with CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence are now open for the 2025 cycle. This initiative, jointly supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the TWAS Network for Sustainable Development, will provide funding for innovative collaborative research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Researchers will partner with one of six CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence (CoEs), each focusing on critical fields like green tech, water, climate, infectious diseases, and more.

What’s in it for You?

  • Funding: Up to RMB 600,000 (~USD $82,000) per project — Split over two years (RMB 300,000 per year)
  • Covers in-person collaboration, research visits, student exchanges, and up to 30% for equipment & consumables

Who Can Apply?

  • TWAS Members or TWAS Young Affiliates
  • Scientists based outside of China
  • Proposals must involve collaboration with one CAS-TWAS CoE
  • Team applications are welcome, but the lead applicant cannot be based in China.
