NU Indonesia Project Visiting Fellowship 2025–2026

Are you an academic researcher with a passion for impactful research on the economy or society of Indonesia or East Asia? This is your chance to work alongside world-class scholars in Australia, refine your research, and publish your findings — all while being fully supported by a prestigious program!

The ANU Indonesia Project Visiting Fellowship is officially open for applications for the 2025–2026 cycle. Funded by the Australian Government, this opportunity is designed to foster academic exchange, scholarly collaboration, and high-quality research outputs.


ANU Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

  • Fully covered accommodation on ANU campus (or equivalent), valued at AUD 1,085/week
  • Living allowance of AUD 500/week (maximum of AUD 2,000 for a 4-week stay)
  • Travel support up to AUD 2,000, covering airfare, visa, and local transportation
  • Access to ANU libraries, computing facilities, seminars, and academic networks
  • Opportunities to collaborate with leading researchers across Australian universities

Total support per fellow can reach up to AUD 8,340.


Program Goals

The main objective of this fellowship is to enable Indonesian academics (PhD holders or equivalent) to:

  • Prepare a research article for publication
  • Finalize analysis, thesis chapters, or academic manuscripts
  • Engage with ANU experts and attend seminars
  • Present research in at least one public seminar during their stay.

Eligible Candidates

To apply, you must:

  • Be an academic researcher with a PhD or equivalent
  • Be conducting research related to Indonesia or East Asia
  • Be actively engaged in writing and analysis
  • Be ready with a draft or clear outline of the proposed paper/project

Fellowship Timeline

  • Duration of Visit: 4 weeks (shorter stays not encouraged)
  • Possible Visit Windows: September 1 – November 30, 2025, and February 23 – June 30, 2026.
