Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Schwarzman Scholars Program, you must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or be on track to graduate by August 1, 2026)
  • Be between 18–28 years old as of August 1, 2026
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency (see details below)
  • Show proven leadership ability and character excellence.

Waivers apply if you’ve studied at least 2 years in English at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.


Application Requirements

The application process of Schwarzman scholarship program is entirely online and must be submitted in English. Required materials include:

  • Resume (2 pages max)
  • 2 Essays
  • Academic transcripts
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • 1-minute video introduction
  • English proficiency test scores (if applicable)

Application Dates and Deadlines

For U.S. and global applicants, the application period for the Schwarzman Scholars 2026–2027 cohort runs from April 10 to September 10, 2025, with the final deadline set at 3:00 p.m. EDT on September 10. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews between October and November 2025. The program officially begins in August 2026.

For applicants holding Chinese passports, the selection cycle takes place earlier, from June to July 2025, and the program also commences in August 2026.

Then, on July 14, 2025, join the Application Walkthrough for U.S./Global Applicants at 9:00 p.m. EST for a step-by-step guide to submitting a strong application. A final walkthrough session will be held on August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. EST. These sessions are open to participants worldwide and offer valuable insights into what makes a successful Schwarzman Scholar.
