Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame Fellowship 2025

The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame Fellowship 2025 is now open for applications as part of the prestigious Queensland Memory Awards. This is an exceptional opportunity for researchers, historians, and curious minds interested in Queensland’s business and economic evolution.


About the Fellowship

This annual fellowship supports a research project that utilizes the John Oxley Library’s extensive resources and adds new knowledge to the understanding of Queensland’s business and economic past.

Funded by the John Allpass Charitable Foundation, the fellowship celebrates impactful storytelling through history and supports projects that contribute meaningfully to the State Library’s collections.

Eligibility

  • Open to individuals or research teams passionate about Queensland’s business or economic history
  • Applicants must propose a project that uses the resources of the John Oxley Library
  • There are no specific academic qualifications required — creativity, relevance, and research potential are key.

Programs Offered / Research Scope

The fellowship welcomes proposals across a wide range of themes within Queensland’s economic and business history, including:

  • Entrepreneurial stories
  • Industry development
  • Businesswomen’s contributions
  • Regional economic growth
  • Indigenous business history
  • Post-colonial trade or commercial systems.

Example: The 2025 fellowship was awarded to Dr Joanne Dolley for her inspiring project, “Businesswomen of Queensland: The histories and successes of Queensland Businesswomen pre-1970.” Her research will highlight pioneering women entrepreneurs who broke barriers long before gender equality became mainstream.
