UNSW Women in Engineering Scholarship 2026 for Term 1

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is calling on all ambitious young women, non-binary, and gender-diverse students across Australia and New Zealand to seize a life-changing opportunity through its Women in Engineering Scholarship Program for Term 1, 2026. Designed to accelerate gender diversity in the field of engineering, this prestigious program offers a suite of merit-based scholarships—some valued as high as $15,000 per year—aimed at nurturing future leaders in science, technology, and innovation.

Whether you’re from a bustling city, rural community, or Indigenous background, UNSW’s Faculty of Engineering wants your talent in their classrooms and labs. The scholarship portal opened on July 1, 2025, and applications will be accepted until September 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM AEDT.

What’s on Offer?

By submitting a single application for the Women in Engineering Scholarship Program (UGCE1400), eligible students will automatically be considered for multiple high-value awards, including:

  • Faculty of Engineering Women in Engineering Scholarship: $12,000/year for the full program duration
  • Peter Angus-Leppan Scholarship: $12,000/year
  • A&D Gotthard Scholarship: $12,000/year (up to 5 years)
  • Alexandria Ada Lam Scholarship: $12,000/year (up to 4 years)
  • Vida Balshaw Scholarship: $5,000/year (for students in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)

On top of that, the Faculty of Engineering Elite Interstate Women Scholarship (UGCE1244) awards $15,000/year, and does not require a separate application. Students who completed their HSC or IB outside of NSW are automatically considered!


Who Should Apply?

The scholarships are exclusively for women, non-binary, or gender-diverse individuals who:

  • Are Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or NZ Citizens
  • Will commence a full-time undergraduate degree (single or double) in the UNSW Faculty of Engineering in Term 1, 2026
  • Can demonstrate academic merit, leadership qualities, extra-curricular engagement, and a genuine passion for engineering.

Additional scholarships are available for rural students and those entering specific engineering disciplines such as chemical or computer science—some requiring separate applications.
