What Does the FRIAS Fellowship Offer?
- Fellowship Duration: 4 to 10 months (between 1 September 2026 – 31 August 2027)
- Funding & Support Includes:
- Research cost contribution
- Mobility allowance (if applicable)
- Inbound and outbound travel costs (if applicable)
- Either a University of Freiburg fellowship contract or alternate compensation, depending on circumstances.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have completed a doctoral degree
- Have no more than eight years of postdoctoral experience
- Have at least 4 peer-reviewed publications since January 1, 2021
- Have completed six months of research or study in a country different from that of their first academic degree.
Selection Process
This is a highly competitive, merit-based program with an expected success rate of ~10%. Applications are reviewed for innovation, academic quality, and alignment with the University of Freiburg’s research strengths.
