If you’ve been dreaming of studying in Australia on a fully funded research scholarship, this is your chance! Deakin University in Australia is now accepting applications for two major postgraduate scholarship programs: the Research Training Program (RTP) and the Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR). These scholarships are open to both international and domestic students for research programs starting in February 2026.
What’s On Offer?
Both RTP and DUPR scholarships provide generous support to help students focus fully on their research degrees:
- Annual Stipend: AUD $35,550 (tax-free for 2025)
- Relocation Allowance: Between AUD $500 to $1,500 for those moving from overseas or interstate
- Health Cover (for internationals only): Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) provided for the length of the student visa.
Duration of Support:
- PhD (Doctoral Degree): 3 years of living stipend + 4 years of tuition fee coverage
- Masters by Research: 2 years of living stipend + 2 years of tuition fee coverage.
Who Can Apply?
You must:
- Be a domestic or international student enrolling in a research degree at Deakin University
- Not receive another scholarship that pays more than 75% of this stipend to cover living costs
- Not already have another Commonwealth-funded scholarship that pays tuition fees
Ideal Candidates Should:
- Have completed at least 4 years of university education
- Have scored 80% or higher in the research portion of their last degree
- Show strong academic background, research potential, or experience.
Current Deakin research students may also apply, but only if they’ve spent less than:
- 3 years in a PhD OR
- 2 years in a Master’s program (or part-time equivalent).

Application Deadlines
The last date to apply for the Research Training Program (RTP) and Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR) for international applicants is 24 August 2025 for the February 2026 intake. For domestic applicants, the deadline to submit applications is 24 October 2025 for the same intake session.
