Kochi University of Technology Special Scholarship Program (SSP) 2026

The Kochi University of Technology (KUT) has officially opened its globally competitive Special Scholarship Program (SSP) for the 2026 academic year, welcoming highly qualified international candidates to apply for doctoral research positions under full financial support in the field of engineering.

This prestigious program not only offers world-class research opportunities in English but also provides a fully funded PhD scholarship, including generous monthly stipends, tuition fee waivers, and relocation support.

What is the SSP Program?

The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) is a three-year doctoral program offered by the Graduate School of Engineering at KUT. It is specifically designed for outstanding international students to undertake advanced research under the supervision of KUT professors. Applicants must be under 35 years of age and possess a master’s degree or be in the process of completing one.

  • Full tuition waiver (535,800 yen/year)
  • Waiver of enrollment and exam fees (up to 315,000 yen)
  • Relocation support: 150,000 yen for travel and initial costs (for applicants outside Japan).
