Funding Package: What’s Included?

Six (06) outstanding students will be selected annually for this life-changing opportunity. Each King-Morgridge Scholar receives:

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the King-Morgridge Scholars Program, applicants must:

  • Be an incoming first-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Be a first-generation university student from a low-income background
  • Have received their high school diploma within the last three years
  • Be a citizen of and graduate from a secondary school in eligible countries in:
    • Africa (e.g., Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, etc.)
    • The Caribbean
    • Latin America
    • South Asia
    • Southeast Asia

Important: Transfer students, graduate students, current UW–Madison students, and those who have already earned a post-secondary degree are not eligible.

Application Timeline (Fall 2026 Entry)

To apply for the King-Morgridge Scholars Program, candidates must apply to UW–Madison via Early Action and also submit the separate King-Morgridge application through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH).

The King-Morgridge Scholarship application deadline is November 15, 2025. Scholarship decisions will be announced by the end of March 2026.
