The University of Wisconsin–Madison is calling on passionate, purpose-driven students from developing countries to apply for the prestigious King-Morgridge Scholars Program for Fall 2026. This four-year, fully funded undergraduate scholarship is designed for those committed to driving meaningful change in their communities, particularly through poverty alleviation.
Funding Package: What’s Included?
Six (06) outstanding students will be selected annually for this life-changing opportunity. Each King-Morgridge Scholar receives:
- Full tuition and fees for four years (eight semesters)
- On-campus room and board
- Comprehensive health insurance
- Round-trip airfare
- A stipend for personal and miscellaneous expenses
This program is funded through the generosity of the King and Morgridge families and is among the most comprehensive scholarship packages available to international students in the U.S.

This scholarship is offered exclusively at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a world-class public research university located in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. The university’s vibrant academic community and global outlook make it a fitting home for scholars who seek to be changemakers in their regions.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the King-Morgridge Scholars Program, applicants must:
- Be an incoming first-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
- Be a first-generation university student from a low-income background
- Have received their high school diploma within the last three years
- Be a citizen of and graduate from a secondary school in eligible countries in:
- Africa (e.g., Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, etc.)
- The Caribbean
- Latin America
- South Asia
- Southeast Asia
Important: Transfer students, graduate students, current UW–Madison students, and those who have already earned a post-secondary degree are not eligible.
Application Timeline (Fall 2026 Entry)
To apply for the King-Morgridge Scholars Program, candidates must apply to UW–Madison via Early Action and also submit the separate King-Morgridge application through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH).
The King-Morgridge Scholarship application deadline is November 15, 2025. Scholarship decisions will be announced by the end of March 2026.
