Who Can Apply?

The scholarships are open to holders of the following visa categories:

  • Bridging Visa ‘E’ (BVE) – Subclass V050
  • Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) – Subclass V785
  • Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) – Subclass V790
  • Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa – Subclass V786

Note: Holders of Bridging Visa ‘A’ and those who entered on a standard Student Visa are not eligible.

Eligible Courses

The Welcome Scholarships apply to a select range of programs at Swinburne, including:

  • Undergraduate degrees
  • UniLink Diplomas
  • Vocational Education Diplomas & Advanced Diplomas

Exclusions: Swinburne Online courses, professional degree programs, and the Bachelor of Aviation.

What’s Included?

This is more than just a tuition waiver — it’s a full support package:

  • Full fee waiver for your chosen course
  • Materials fees covered for Vocational Education programs
  • Concession fees covered for ASVET Certificate courses
  • Up to $7,500 per year stipend for TPV and SHEV holders (if the course is longer than 12 months)

Important: Students must ensure they have other means of financial support (such as part-time work), as government income support may stop once enrolled.


Application Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Submit a course application (via VTAC if you’re a Year 12 student, or directly to Swinburne if not).
  • Provide a 300-word personal statement highlighting your community involvement, volunteer work, leadership potential, and future contributions.
  • Show evidence of financial hardship (e.g., health care card, bank statements, youth allowance, etc.).
  • Submit a reference letter (written within the last 12 months) supporting your statement.
