The Globalink Mitacs Research Internship is designed for undergraduate students in science, engineering, mathematics, social sciences, and the humanities. Each year, selected candidates are matched with research projects hosted at more than 70 Canadian universities. Eligibility Criteria for 2026
To apply for the 2026 session, students must:
- Be 18 years or older at the time of application.
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or combined bachelor’s/master’s program at an eligible institution.
- Have completed at least two years of study by the internship start date.
- Possess one to three semesters remaining in their program as of fall 2026.
- Meet GPA requirements set by their home country partner institution.
- Apply to three to ten research projects across at least three Canadian provinces.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the working language of the project (English or French).
- Be available for a 12-week internship between May 1 and October 31, 2026.
Applicants who previously participated in the Globalink program are not eligible. Additionally, restrictions apply for candidates affiliated with institutions engaged in sensitive technology research areas.
