Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, has announced its Call for Applications for the Solitude Fellowships 2026-2028, opening on October 15, 2025. Up to 60 fully funded international fellowships will be awarded to outstanding individuals across art, science, and cultural disciplines, offering a unique opportunity to immerse in creative exploration, interdisciplinary exchange, and international networking.
About the Solitude Fellowship
The Solitude Fellowship is a globally recognized residency that supports independent thinkers — artists, researchers, and cultural professionals — by providing them with an inspiring environment to pursue their creative and intellectual projects. The program fosters collaboration and experimentation across disciplines and contributes to a diverse and globally connected cultural landscape in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Fellowships are open-ended in terms of results, allowing participants the freedom to explore their ideas without constraints. Fellows may also organize events, workshops, or collaborations with partner institutions in Stuttgart and the surrounding region.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants from all countries are welcome, provided they have two to ten years of independent professional practice after completing their training. Both individuals and collectives (of up to two members working together for at least two years) can apply.
However, students in training (except PhD candidates) and those with permanent professorships are not eligible.
Working languages are English and/or German, though the official house language is English.

What this Solitude Fellowship Covers?
Successful applicants will receive:
- A 6- or 9-month residency in Stuttgart
- A monthly stipend of €1,300
- A furnished live/work studio with utilities included
- A one-time travel allowance for arrival and departure
This comprehensive package ensures fellows can fully dedicate themselves to their creative or research endeavors without financial stress.
Application Process and Deadlines
The application process occurs in two stages:

Stage 1: Short Application (October 15–November 14, 2025)
Applicants submit a brief online application. In highly competitive fields, a random pre-selection ensures fairness.
Deadline: November 14, 2025, 6 PM CET. -
Stage 2: Full Application (November 24–December 19, 2025)
Selected applicants from Stage 1 submit a complete proposal.
Deadline: December 19, 2025, 6 PM CET.
Applicants will be notified by email after each stage regarding their status.
