Daihatsu-JAGAM Scholarship 2026 at Tohoku University to Study for free in Japan

A major academic opportunity has officially opened for foreign students who aim to pursue higher education in Japan, as the Daihatsu–JAGAM Scholarship announces its 2026 intake. This Japanese scholarship initiative—established through a partnership between the Japan Graduates’ Association of Malaysia (JAGAM) and Daihatsu Motor Co.—was created to support outstanding Malaysian students with strong academic records, clear leadership qualities, and a passion for contributing to international cooperation and mobility innovation. The program encourages the growth of future engineers and researchers who can play key roles in the evolving mobility and small-car industry.

What does this Scholarship Offers?

The scholarship provides generous monthly financial support to selected students across a full academic year. Each scholar will receive JPY 100,000 per month, disbursed directly into a Japanese bank account. The funding covers the period from April 2026 to March 2027, offering steady support for living and study-related expenses.

This is a non-repayable, fully funded stipend, and while scholars are not required to work for Daihatsu after completing their studies, those interested in future employment opportunities with the company are warmly welcomed to explore possible career paths.

Eligibility Requisites

The scholarship is exclusively open to Malaysian citizens who are studying—or will soon be studying—at a Japanese university or graduate school (Master’s level) in engineering, science, or information-related disciplines. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

They should be within the age limits of 25 years or younger at the time of completing a bachelor’s degree, or 27 years or younger at the time of completing a master’s degree. Candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance, exemplary character, and a clear potential to contribute to international goodwill between Malaysia and Japan. They must show a genuine interest in building a career in mobility, especially in small-car sectors, and they must be capable of communicating effectively in Japanese. Additionally, they are generally expected not to be receiving any other scholarship at the same time.
