The International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) is a two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree designed to train highly skilled fire safety engineers capable of addressing complex fire risks in buildings, infrastructure, transport systems, and industrial environments. Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for IMFSE 2026, applicants must generally:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or be in the final year) in:
    1. Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Safety, Structural, or related)
    2. Physics, Applied Sciences, or closely related fields
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance
  • Have sufficient English language proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent, as required by partner universities)
  • Be able to participate in mandatory international mobility
  • Meet Erasmus Mundus nationality and eligibility rules.

Application Categories & Deadlines

For the Erasmus Mundus IMFSE Scholarship 2026, applications are accepted under two categories: Erasmus Mundus scholarship applicants and self-sponsored applicants. Candidates applying for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship must submit their complete application no later than 1 February 2026, as applications submitted after 31 January 2026 will not be considered for scholarship funding. The selection results for Erasmus Mundus scholarship applicants are expected to be announced by the end of March 2026.

Applicants who are not selected for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship may still apply to the IMFSE programme on a self-sponsored basis. Self-funded applicants who require a visa must submit their application before 1 April 2026, while self-sponsored applicants who do not require a visa have a later deadline and must apply before 1 June 2026. The selection outcomes for self-sponsored applicants will be communicated by the end of June 2026, and successful self-funded students are required to complete their tuition fee payment by the end of August 2026.
