Who This Opportunity Is Meant For?

This scholarship specifically targets members of the Hungarian diaspora who wish to strengthen their cultural ties while pursuing higher education in Hungary.

  • Applicants must live outside Hungary and have resided abroad for at least 10 consecutive years
  • Secondary education must have been completed outside Hungary for the past 4 years
  • Applicants must be part of the Hungarian diaspora living outside the European Union, Serbia, or Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine
  • A mandatory recommendation from a local Hungarian diaspora organization or Hungarian diplomatic delegation is required
  • Applicants may apply for Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree programmes
  • Study options are available in English or Hungarian, across more than 280 programmes at the University of Pécs.

How to Submit Your Application Successfully?

Applications must be submitted through the Tempus Public Foundation’s online application system https://international.pte.hu/news/reboot-your-roots-hungarian-diaspora-scholarship, with the University of Pécs selected as the first priority institution.

Applicants need to register, choose up to two study programmes, upload required documents, and ensure their diaspora recommendation is validated. After submission, applications are reviewed by the University of Pécs, followed by admission and award notifications for successful candidates.


Application Timeline and Deadline Details

The application process for the Diaspora Scholarship 2026 at the University of Pécs concludes with a firm deadline of 24 January 2026. University evaluations are completed by 30 May 2026, and successful applicants receive their Letters of Admission and Award by mid-July 2026, allowing ample time to prepare for relocation and enrolment in Hungary.
