Fully Funded Scholarships 2026 at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Breaking news for international high-school graduates planning ahead: fully funded undergraduate scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic cohort are now open at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE)—one of China’s most respected institutions for finance, economics, management, and applied social sciences. This opportunity is available for students enrolling in September 2026, and applications run through spring 2026.

This article walks you through what this opportunity is, what the scholarship actually covers, who can apply, how the selection works, and the key deadlines you need to mark if you’re aiming to study in Shanghai on a fully funded pathway.

What Kind of Opportunity Is This?

This is a fully funded undergraduate scholarship program supported under the Shanghai Government Scholarship framework, designed to attract academically strong international students to pursue a four-year bachelor’s degree at SUFE. The program is merit-based and open to all majors, making it one of the most flexible funded undergraduate options in China for 2026 entry.

What the Scholarship Offers?

SUFE offers two scholarship tracks, allowing strong candidates to receive substantial financial support throughout their undergraduate studies.

Type A Scholarship (Fully Funded Package):

  • 100% tuition fee waiver
  • On-campus accommodation covered
  • Comprehensive medical insurance
  • Monthly living stipend of CNY 2,500
  • Coverage duration: standard program length (4 years)

Type B Scholarship (Tuition-Focused Support):

  • 100% tuition fee waiver
  • Medical insurance coverage
  • Coverage duration: standard program length (4 years)

Both tracks allow international students to focus fully on academics without the pressure of tuition costs, while Type A additionally supports living expenses in Shanghai.

Who Can Apply: Eligibility Checks

To be considered for this scholarship and undergraduate admission at SUFE, applicants must meet all of the following conditions.

Nationality & Health
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good physical and mental health. Those with Chinese parentage or migration background must meet the requirements outlined in China’s Ministry of Education regulations for international applicants.

Academic Background & Age
Applicants must be 18–25 years old and must have completed senior high school or be on track to receive a high school diploma by summer 2026, prior to enrollment in September 2026.

Field of Study
The scholarship is open to all undergraduate majors offered at SUFE.

Language Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate Chinese language proficiency with a minimum HSK Level 5 score of 180.

How the Application Process Works?

Applicants must complete both academic assessments and university admission steps to be considered for the scholarship.

First, all applicants are required to take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) by the end of March 2026. The Mathematics test is mandatory for all majors, while applicants can choose to sit subject tests in either Chinese or English depending on their program requirements.

Next, applicants must submit an online application for undergraduate admission through the SUFE Applicant Portal. During the application, candidates must indicate their intention to apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarship under the financial support section and pay the required application fee.

Shortlisted applicants will then attend an online admission interview, typically scheduled for mid-April 2026.

The last date to sit the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) for admission to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is March 31, 2026, and applicants must ensure they complete this assessment on time to remain eligible for both admission and scholarship consideration. The undergraduate admission application deadline at SUFE also falls on March 31, 2026, making this a critical cutoff date for international students targeting the 2026–2027 intake.

Following the submission of applications, admission interviews are expected to take place in mid-April 2026, conducted online as part of the university’s assessment process. Final scholarship decisions are usually announced in late May or early June 2026, and applicants who do not receive any communication by June 30, 2026 should consider their scholarship application unsuccessful.
