The Roche Scholarship 2026 by One Young World Open

The Roche Scholarship 2026 is now accepting applications, and it is targeting a very specific kind of healthcare professional: young leaders inside the NHS who are doing real work at the intersection of sustainability and patient care. Three scholars will be selected to attend the One Young World Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 to 6 November 2026, with virtually all costs covered.

This is not a generic leadership award. Roche, one of the largest healthcare companies in the world, has a stated goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2045 and halving the environmental footprint of its products and operations. The scholarship reflects that mission directly. It is built for NHS professionals who are already pushing boundaries in areas like health equity, sustainable clinical practices, or decarbonising healthcare supply chains. If your daily work involves making the NHS greener, fairer, or more innovative, this opportunity was designed with you in mind.

The One Young World Summit itself is one of the most prominent global platforms for young leaders, drawing delegates from over 190 countries. Being selected as a Roche Scholar does not just mean attending a conference. It means joining a curated network of professionals who are shaping healthcare policy and practice across the United Kingdom and beyond.

What the Scholarship Actually Pays For?

Roche is not offering a partial sponsorship or a discounted registration. The scholarship covers the full cost of participation, including travel and accommodation. Here is a breakdown of what selected scholars receive:

  • Full access to the One Young World Summit 2026 in Cape Town
  • Private hotel accommodation from 2 to 6 November 2026
  • Economy class travel to and from Cape Town, reimbursed after scholars book their own flights
  • All meals throughout the programme, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the hotel and during the Summit
  • Transportation costs between the airport and hotel via public transport

There are 3 scholarship awards available for the class of 2026.

Who Roche Actually Wants to Hear From?

This scholarship is not open to every healthcare worker in the UK. Roche is looking for a specific profile: young professionals currently working within the NHS who have a demonstrated track record in sustainable innovation or health equity. Your work should align with at least one of the following areas:

  • Addressing the root causes and consequences of health inequalities across communities
  • Developing or implementing new methods of treatment or diagnosis that meaningfully improve the patient care pathway
  • Reducing the environmental impact of healthcare operations, such as cutting emissions or easing the burden on natural resources through supply chain decarbonization

The key word across all of these criteria is demonstrated. Roche is not looking for ideas alone. They want evidence that you are already doing this work inside the NHS.

The Clock Is Already Ticking

The application deadline for the Roche Scholarship 2026 is 6 May 2026. That gives candidates just under two months from the opening date to prepare and submit a strong application. Given that only three scholars will be selected from across the entire NHS, waiting until the final week is not a strategy. Start pulling together your evidence of impact now, refine your narrative, and submit well ahead of the cut-off date.
