15 Italian Scholarships at Università d’Annunzio Available for 2026 Cohort

CHIETI-PESCARA / INTERNATIONAL — The Università degli Studi “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara has opened applications for 15 scholarships reserved for international students enrolling in the 2026–2027 academic year, with a deadline of 20 April 2026. These scholarship awards, issued under Rector’s Decree DR 288/2026, cover both bachelor’s and master’s level programmes and include dedicated places for students joining Joint Programmes or INGENIUM European University Pathways.

Italy’s Role in the INGENIUM Alliance and International Recruitment

The call reflects a broader push by mid-sized Italian public universities to attract non-EU talent, particularly through the INGENIUM European University consortium, which links d’Annunzio with partner institutions across Europe. As tuition at anglophone destinations continues to climb, Italian universities — where public fees remain comparatively low — are positioning themselves as viable alternatives for students seeking English-taught programmes in the European Union. With only 15 places on offer, the competition will be sharp, but the financial package and fee exemptions represent a meaningful incentive for candidates from countries where even modest European tuition can be prohibitive.

What the Ud’A INT-1 Scholarship Provides to Recipients?

Each scholarship carries a gross financial contribution of €6,000, paid in instalments tied to academic progress, plus a full exemption from university fees — recipients pay only the regional tax of €140 and a €16 stamp duty. For bachelor’s students, the €6,000 annual award is disbursed across six instalments over three years, while master’s students receive four instalments over two years, contingent on meeting ECTS credit thresholds at each stage.

Beyond the cash award, the university provides reception and orientation services, assisted access to its online student portal, psychological support for students with disabilities or learning difficulties, and a free Italian language course. The scholarship is renewable for the full standard duration of the degree programme, provided the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress. It is worth noting that these awards are incompatible with other public or private grants, including Italian government MAECI scholarships and regional ADSU funding — holding both simultaneously will result in revocation.

Who Can Apply to d’Annunzio’s 2026–2027 International Scholarship?

The 15 scholarships are reserved exclusively for students who hold an entry qualification obtained outside Italy. Of these, five are earmarked for students enrolling in Joint Programmes or INGENIUM Pathways, while the remaining ten are allocated across specific degree programmes including the Bachelor in Economics and Finance, and master’s programmes in Planetary Sciences, Computational Cognitive Science, Psychology of Well-Being and Performance, Economics and Management, Building Engineering, Health Professions of Rehabilitation Sciences, Legal Sciences for Internationalization and Business Innovation, and Economics and Finance.

Bachelor’s applicants must hold a qualification equivalent to at least 12 years of schooling, with supplementary provisions for candidates from countries with 10- or 11-year systems. Master’s applicants need a foreign academic qualification that grants access to second-cycle programmes. Programmes taught in English require B2-level English language certification. Transfers from other Italian universities are not permitted.

How the Application and Selection Process Works at Ud’A?

Candidates must register on the university’s online portal https://www.unich.it/international/international-students/call-application, navigate to the evaluation test section, and select the scholarship call for 2026–2027. The application requires a valid passport or ID copy, a CV, a motivation letter in English, the degree programme selection form (Annex 2), English language certification where applicable, copies of academic qualifications, and official transcripts with grades. Documents not in Italian must be accompanied by a sworn translation and either legalised by the competent Italian diplomatic representation, bear an Apostille stamp, or include a CIMEA Statement of Verification. A Declaration of Value or ENIC-NARIC Statement of Comparability is also required, though some documentation may be submitted after selection but before enrolment. The application deadline is 20 April 2026 at 23:59 Italian time.

A university committee appointed by the Rector evaluates applications solely on the basis of qualifications, allocating up to 60 points for academic credentials and 40 points for the CV and motivation letter. In cases of tied scores, preference goes first to younger candidates, then to female candidates. With 15 awards and a points-based ranking, applicants should invest particular care in the motivation letter and in presenting a strong, well-documented academic record.

For international students considering Italy as a study destination, d’Annunzio’s scholarship — modest in stipend but significant in fee relief and multi-year support — offers a structured entry point into an INGENIUM-affiliated European university with campuses in the Abruzzo region. The real value here may be less in the headline figure than in the pathway it opens: access to a European degree, a consortium network, and the professional mobility that follows.
