KAIST Graduate Subjects Options: Fall 2027 and Spring 2028: Master’s, MS-PhD and PhD Fields Explained
If you are planning KAIST graduate admission for Fall 2027 or Spring 2028, the first question should not be “Which scholarship can I get?” It should be: does KAIST actually offer my research field at Master’s, MS-PhD Integrated or PhD level?
For most science, engineering and technology applicants, the answer is likely yes. KAIST currently lists international graduate programmes across five (05) major academic divisions, but applicants must remember one important rule: not every programme necessarily recruits in every admission cycle.

Can You Study AI, Computing and Data Science at KAIST?
Yes. KAIST has particularly broad options for applicants targeting emerging technology fields.
Current graduate offerings include the School of Computing, Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI, Graduate School of Data Science, Graduate School of Information Security and Robotics-related programmes.

Are Master’s, MS-PhD and PhD Available in Every Field?
Many major KAIST programmes currently offer all three routes: Master’s, Master’s–PhD Integrated and PhD.
A Bachelor’s-equivalent qualification can normally support an application to the Master’s or MS-PhD route, while PhD applicants require a Master’s-equivalent qualification.
However, applicants should never assume that a programme appearing in KAIST’s general catalogue will automatically recruit for Fall 2027 or Spring 2028. KAIST states that participating programmes can change between the Spring, Fall Early and Fall Regular admission rounds.
When Should Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 Applicants Prepare?
KAIST postgrad spring 2027 scholarship intake is open whereas 2027 fall intake has not yet published the final programme lists and exact dates for all Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 international graduate rounds.
Its normal international graduate calendar places Fall Early admissions around December 2026, Fall Regular around March 2027, and Spring admissions around mid-August 2027 to early September 2027.
So your preparation should begin several months earlier: identify the right department, study faculty research, check English requirements and determine whether a standalone Master’s or MS-PhD Integrated route better fits your long-term plan.
The most important rule is simple: choose the research programme first and the admission cycle second—not the other way around.
