Bachelor/Master Scholarship Admissions (2027) at Jönköping University in Sweden Open
Could a tuition scholarship bring your plans to study business or engineering in Sweden within reach? Jönköping University has announced its Autumn 2027 scholarship application period for eligible bachelor’s and master’s applicants, with awards covering 10–30% of tuition.
Your first decision is which degree you qualify for and whether you can finance the remaining costs. Do you need an admission offer before applying for funding? Is IELTS compulsory? And does the scholarship deadline give you extra time to submit admission documents? Here is how to prepare both applications without confusing their requirements.

How much of your study budget will the scholarship cover?
The award reduces tuition, leaving you responsible for the balance and your living expenses. It is deducted semester by semester for the programme’s duration, up to three years.
For example, International Management lists total tuition of SEK 360,000. A 10% award would reduce that by SEK 36,000; a 30% award by SEK 108,000. These are calculations, not promised award amounts, and assume you retain the scholarship throughout.
Recipients must study full-time. Continued funding requires at least 22.5 passed credits per semester on one-year programmes, or 45 credits per year on two- and three-year programmes. Pay the remaining tuition by your invoice deadline.
Who can apply for Jönköping University’s scholarship?
You must satisfy the citizenship and tuition-fee rules, apply for an eligible on-site degree, and complete the scholarship application. Living outside your country of citizenship does not disqualify you.
You may apply while awaiting admission, but a programme offer is required for scholarship selection. Selection considers academic merit, your statement and recommendation letters; meeting eligibility does not guarantee funding.
Which Autumn 2027 degree fits your qualifications?
Choose a programme whose subject prerequisites match your previous education. Verified English-taught examples include:
- Bachelor in International Management: 180 credits, covering business, economics, leadership and international strategy. Entry includes upper-secondary qualifications and the required equivalents in mathematics, civics and English.
- Master in Supply Chain Operations Management: 120 credits, covering production systems, operations, sustainability and digitalization. Entry requires an engineering or technology bachelor’s equivalent to at least 180 ECTS, including 15 mathematics credits, plus English proficiency.
These examples are not the complete programme list. Check the Autumn 2027 catalogue for your exact degree, campus, tuition and prerequisites before choosing an application route.
Can you apply without IELTS at Jönköping University?
Yes, if you meet JU’s English requirement through another accepted test or a recognized educational exemption. IELTS is one option, not a universal compulsory test.
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall, with no section below 5.5.
- PTE Academic: 62 overall, writing 61; results must be no older than two years.
- Duolingo: 125 overall, accepted only through JU Direct Application; results must be no older than two years.
- TOEFL iBT: For tests taken from 21 January 2026, 4.5 overall on the 1–6 scale, with no section below 4. Earlier tests require 90 overall and writing 20; the two-year validity rule applies.
Some school or university qualifications satisfy the requirement. An English-medium degree does not automatically qualify everywhere: check the exact country and qualification exemption before relying on it.
Which documents should you prepare first?
Prepare your admission evidence first, then the shorter scholarship statement and recommendation. The documents below distinguish JU Direct Application materials from scholarship requirements.
| Document or detail | How to obtain or prepare it |
|---|---|
| Admission: qualifications and transcripts | Bachelor’s applicants prepare upper-secondary certificates and grades; master’s applicants prepare their bachelor’s diploma and transcript. Follow country-specific certification and direct-delivery rules. |
| Admission: passport and English evidence | Scan your passport and provide an accepted test result or the documents establishing an exemption. |
| JU Direct Application: motivation letter | Explain your programme choice and academic suitability. This is separate from the scholarship statement. |
| Programme-specific: thesis or equivalent | Master’s applicants provide this only where their chosen programme requires it. |
| Scholarship: recommendation | Request one English letter from a teacher or employer describing achievements and strengths. Maximum one page per letter; up to two letters are permitted. |
| Scholarship: individual statement | Describe your educational experience and career plans in no more than 200 words. |
| Scholarship: application number and email | Use the number generated by your programme application and the same email address. |
| Translations and final-year evidence | Follow the separate bachelor’s or master’s translation rules. Conditional applicants must supply the prescribed evidence of current studies and later final qualifications. |
JU Direct Application requires PDF uploads. Some qualifications require documents sent by the issuing institution; arrange this early rather than assuming a personal upload is sufficient.
How do you submit admission and scholarship applications?
Apply for your degree first, then submit the separate scholarship form.
- Choose your degree and route. Start with JU’s admission hub for programme selection and JU Direct Application. Alternatively, apply through University Admissions. Applicants also seeking a Swedish Institute scholarship must use University Admissions for their master’s application.
- Complete admission requirements. Supply the documents for your chosen route and pay the SEK 900 application fee if required. JU processes direct applications on a rolling basis, and programmes can fill before the closing date.
- Apply separately for funding. From 16 October, use the online form linked on the official JU scholarship page. Enter your study application number and matching email; submit your recommendation and individual statement. Scholarship processing requires a complete admission application.
- Respond to your offers. Accept admission and, if awarded funding, confirm the scholarship by the date in its offer. JU’s webpage says notification by 7 May, while the 2027/2028 terms say approximately three weeks after the deadline. Ask JU to confirm the result timetable if it affects a tuition payment; do not assume an invoice deadline is postponed.
What are the deadlines, and what can you do today?
The last date to apply for the Jönköping University Scholarship for Autumn 2027 is 2 May 2027; applications open on 16 October 2026. The published notice does not state a closing time or time zone.
JU Direct Application runs from 16 October 2026 to 2 May 2027, with supporting documents due by 15 May. That later document date does not extend the scholarship deadline: complete your admission file early for funding consideration.
For University Admissions’ first round, apply and rank programmes by 15 January 2027, then meet the 1 February document and application-fee deadline. Admission results are scheduled for 1 April for master’s and 8 April for bachelor’s applicants.
Your three moves before opening: choose the exact programme and admission route; request your slowest transcript, translation or English result; and gather concrete academic achievements for your recommendation and 200-word scholarship statement.
