The MOFA Taiwan scholarship 2024, offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan, provides financial support to international scholars for conducting advanced research related to Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.

Eligible recipients include professors, researchers, and doctoral candidates from overseas universities and academic institutions. Applications are currently open and very few days now remaining for you to apply, with next research batch commencing in January 2025.

Funding Benefits of MOFA Taiwanese Scholarship

The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship provides substantial financial support to its recipients, ensuring they can focus entirely on their research. The financial assistance includes:

    • Monthly Grants: Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows receive a monthly stipend of NT$60,000. Whereas, assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates receive a monthly stipend of NT$50,000.
    • Travel Subsidy: Recipients are awarded one round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan. The subsidy amount is determined by MOFA according to relevant regulations.
    • Fellowship Duration: The fellowship term ranges from 3 to 12 months, allowing scholars to engage in both short-term and long-term research projects.
    • Insurance Coverage: Recipients are provided with accident insurance and medical insurance for accidental injuries, with coverage up to NT$1 million.

Eligibility Criteria

The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship is open to a broad spectrum of scholars, including:

  • Foreign professors, associate professors, and assistant professors.
  • Post-doctoral researchers and doctoral candidates.
  • Doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities.
  • Research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
