What is the RSS?

The Residential Student Scholarship (RSS) is designed for PhD students who require long-term access to ANSTO’s world-class facilities and expertise. If your research involves staying at ANSTO for at least six months per year, this scholarship provides financial support to make it easier.

Starting from July 2023, the RSS offers up to A$9,000 per annum, plus up to A$5,000 for travel and accommodation allowances. This financial boost ensures that students can fully focus on their research without worrying about the additional costs of commuting or living away from home.

Who is eligible?

To apply for the RSS, students must:

  • Be enrolled in a PhD program at an AINSE Member University.
  • Be receiving a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship or equivalent.
  • Require access to ANSTO’s facilities for a minimum of six months per year for their research project.

If your research aligns with ANSTO’s capabilities, this scholarship is the perfect opportunity to access world-class resources and expand your academic horizons.

The application process for the Residential Student Scholarship is straightforward:

  1. Establish a connection with your AINSE Member Representative and an appropriate ANSTO co-supervisor related to the research instrument you’ll be using.
