American AWWA Scholarships 2026 Announcement for All

Applications for the AWWA Scholarship Program will officially open on September 22, 2025, and it’s time to start preparing now.


What Is the AWWA Scholarship Program?

AWWA, through its Water Equation initiative, supports the next generation of water professionals—students, researchers, and operators—who will tackle global water challenges. Whether you are a budding engineer, a doctoral researcher, or a student exploring environmental sciences, there’s a scholarship designed for you.

This program doesn’t just hand out funding—it connects you to a professional network of leaders, innovators, and organizations across the world that are shaping the future of water.


Types of Scholarships Available

The AWWA Scholarship Program offers a wide variety of awards, ranging from $3,000 to $30,000, depending on the category:

  • Abel Wolman Fellowship – Up to $30,000 for outstanding doctoral students in water supply research.
  • Larson Aquatic Research Support (LARS) Scholarships$5,000 (Master’s) or $7,000 (PhD) awards for graduate students.
  • Dr. James K. Edzwald Scholarship$3,000 for research on climate change and water quality treatment.
  • Dr. Philip C. Singer Scholarship$3,000 supporting graduate research in drinking water quality and public health.
  • Corporate-Sponsored Scholarships – Awards of $5,000–$10,000 sponsored by industry leaders such as Carollo Engineers, CDM Smith, Hazen, HDR, AECOM, Stantec, Veolia, and more.

In addition to the national program, local AWWA Sections also offer regional scholarships and operator grants. These awards often range from $100 to $5,000 and support applicants at the undergraduate, graduate, or continuing education levels.
