ANZSOG Academic Fellowships 2026 Now Open for International Scholars
Are you an academic with a passion for public governance, research collaboration, and international engagement? Here’s your opportunity to be at the heart of one of Australasia’s leading institutions shaping future public sector leaders.
The Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) has officially opened applications for the second round of its Academic Fellows Program, commencing in 2026. The program invites both domestic and international academics to contribute meaningfully to ANZSOG’s world-renowned mission—bridging the gap between public service and academia through rigorous research and knowledge exchange.
Two (02) Fellowship Streams
ANZSOG offers two types of short-term fellowships across Semester 1 and Semester 2 of 2026:
- Resident Academic Fellowships – Available exclusively to scholars from ANZSOG’s Partner Universities.
- Visiting Academic Fellowships – Open to academics from other Australian, New Zealand, and international universities.
This initiative forms part of ANZSOG’s bold 2030 Strategy, which emphasizes innovation in governance, deepening academic networks, and reinforcing its unique position at the intersection of research and public service delivery.
Professor Caron Beaton-Wells, Dean and CEO of ANZSOG, stated: “We are focused on the transformation of governance to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It is integral to this goal that we strengthen our academic ecosystem and relationships.”
What’s in It for You?
Fellows selected for the 2026 intake will enjoy unparalleled academic exchange and real-world impact:
-
Resident Fellows receive funding under a ‘buyout’ model, reducing their normal teaching load so they can engage with ANZSOG part-time on a secondment basis.
-
Visiting Fellows, including international applicants, can apply for a 1–3 month visit, supported by ANZSOG with travel and accommodation contributions. They also receive workspace and access to ANZSOG’s rich academic and practitioner network.
This is a fantastic chance to immerse yourself in a vibrant intellectual environment while contributing to cutting-edge research that directly informs government policy and practice across Australia and New Zealand.
Be Inspired by Previous Fellows
